About Us

A three-year project funded by the CDC Community Approaches to Reducing Sexually Transmitted Diseases (CARS) initiative to support the planning, implementation and evaluation of interdisciplinary interventions to promote community sexual health.

Purpose/Goals

• Increase awareness about HIV/STI disparities in the community • Promote collaborations between multiple sectors and identify opportunities for STI prevention and care delivery • Create equitable access to HIV sites by aiding young women of color and young transgender women of color to access culturally appropriate and sensitive services.

Approach

PE uses a partnership and community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach. PE uses shared decision-making to engage community and researchers.

Project Elevate

The purpose of Project Elevate is to increase awareness of HIV/STI disparities in the community.

Activities to Date:

  • Convened Youth Expert Advisory Board and Community Health Expert Advisory Board
  • Developed marketing campaign
  • Developing Sexual Health App
  • Conducting STI/HIV screenings
  • Developed partnerships with clinical and non-clinical sites
  • Established a clear linkage to care protocol for clients

Identified through the Project Elevate Youth Expert Advisory Board (YEAB) and focusand community groups assessments.
